Crafty Warriors

We've talked about it before.  How sometimes the urge to "do something" strikes, and you have to just...well, do it.  Those moments seem to be coming more fast and furiously for me since the Kid came along.  I think he's making me a better person like that.

Which is all a lead up to the fact that when I read about Craft Hope's Project 16 :: The Littlest Warriors (making hats and bags for kids with cancer), I had one of those moments.  I had to pitch in.  And since I'm also trying to emerge from my hermit cave and be a little more social these days, I decided to make a party of it.

It was a good, old-fashioned sewing and knitting circle, worthy of our pioneer ancestresses.  Except that we had wine and pizza and peanut-butter-cream-cheese fruit dip.  (That last bit was the winning straw.)

I sat at the sewing machine and made bags, and a friend painted a cute stencil on each one to make it awesome.  Everyone else knitted their hearts out, as we chatted and gossiped away the night.

I believe I like this party-with-a-purpose concept.  I had such a good time, in fact, that I think I may have to repeat the idea for later Craft Hope projects.
