Just to show how early Spring really is this year, we went asparagus picking this past Sunday. Normally, asparagus opening day is close to April 15th--or even sometimes closer to the first of May--but this year it was on our (at least, close to) 90 degree April Fools' Day. Wow!
The Kid did not really get the concept. He enjoyed taking the asparagus out of the basket and playing with sticks, though. A bit counterproductive as to the former, but he was having a good time so all was well.
While the asparagus will go into almost every meal we eat this week--frittata, pasta, etc.--for our inaugural meal, we had it my favorite way, roasted with prosciutto and a couple of the ladies' spectacular eggs perched on top.
