As promised, a little something to kick off your holiday crafting! For this Saturday's featured sponsor, I'm happy to introduce Fashionable Fabrics, an online fabric store specializing in fashion forward novelty fabrics for crafters and seamstresses. Tonia--who is the seamstress half of the husband-wife team that owns Fashionable Fabrics--recently answered the following questions from me:
Me: Tell us a bit about why you decided to open an online fabric store. What makes your store unique?
Tonia: We decided to open an online fabric store because it seemed the perfect fit for both my husband and I. I love sewing and was purchasing a lot of fabric. I really wanted to start a business that had to do with sewing. My husband, Dennis, has the technical know how to run an online business. When the opportunity came up to purchase Fashionable Fabrics we jumped and the opportunity. It is a perfect fit for my husband and I to work together.
Me: I am in love with your Japanese fabric section! What are some of your favorites of the fabrics you carry?
Tonia: Which fabric is my favorite? Wow, that is a hard question. I do all the purchasing of the fabrics so, I love all of them. I have a project in mind for every single print. Now, if only I had the time to make them all!!
Me: With the holidays coming up, I'm sure I'm not the only person thinking of making pajama pants for Christmas morning. Can you point me in the direction of something that would be fun for my toddler?
Tonia: I love pajama pants! And there is nothing more comfortable than flannel pj's on a cold night. I think Flannel Forest Life in Watermelon for Michael Miller Fabrics would look cute for a toddler girl, or this one Flannel Sweet Divinity Main on blue by Riley Blake Designs. For a boy Flannel Dino Dudes by Michael Miller Fabrics. I already have plans of making my 20 year old niece PJ pants out of this print Flannel Midnight Snack by Alexander Henry Fabrics. She wants a bean bag in the cotton to match!
Me: Is there anything new coming up for Fashionable Fabrics?
Tonia: There is a lot in the works for Fashionable Fabrics. We are constantly adding new prints. We recently hired a new member to help with listing all the new fabrics and faster shipping. We are making improvement to the website for easier shopping. We have so many ideas and a great long term vision for our shop. It is and will always be a work in progress. Our goal is to supply unique fabrics, patterns, and notions at a low cost for those who love to sew!
Tonia and Dennis have generously agreed to giveaway a $35 gift certificate to Fashionable Fabrics. To win, go pick out your favorite print their store and come back and leave a comment about it. I'll choose a winner on Wednesday!
