Harvest Moon loose teaIMG_7903

This Saturday, I'm thrilled to introduce Twysted Thystle, creators of lovely, natural body products and organic teas.  Deb from Twysted Thystle recently answered the following questions from me.

Me:  You make soothing sounding--and beautifully packaged--body products, as well as herbal teas. Tell us about how you got started with all of that.

Deb:  Thank you for the kind words!! I have been studying herbs and natural healing since 1996 and I have been a Certified Aromatherapist since 2001. I am also a hippie mama to 6 totally awesome kids!! Twysted Thystle was started in the fall of 2011. Our amazing artist Heather hand draws all of the labels for each product and I handcraft each of the products. Together, we create some pretty awesome products, even if I do say so myself ;o)

Me:  Since I've started running, my hard-working feet always seem to need a little TLC. What's your most pampering body product?

Deb:  Well, we have a product specifically for sore hard-working achy feet… our Bare Feet Not Arms Foot Balm. It is made with a comfrey, plantain, and St. Johns wort infused olive oil and 100% pure essential oils of peppermint and lavender. It is all organic and feels wonderful on sore feet. I originally made it for my oldest daughter who is a ballet dancer. Not only does it soothe tired feet, it also helps heal cracks and blisters. It is called ‘Bare Feet Not Arms’ as part of our peaceful Happy Hippie line of products which also includes our Make Love Not War Body Oil and Garlic Revolution Healing Salve.

Me:  As the weather gets chilly in the fall and winter, I often brew-up an afternoon pot of tea to stay warm. What tea do you reach for when you want to make a cup?

Deb:  My favorite tea right now is our Harvest Moon Tea. It is one of our seasonal products and will only be available until the Winter Solstice. It is a warm blend of cinnamon, ginger, vanilla, clove, orange peel, nutmeg, and honeybush. The honeybush is a non-caffeinated naturally sweet tea leaf from Africa, so we usually do not even sweeten this with anything. I am totally stocking up on this over the next few weeks because I won’t be mixing up this blend again until next autumn. We try to keep our products seasonal and in line with nature as much as we can.

With the holidays among us, and the holiday foods around us, I have also been brewing and drinking a lot of our Tummy Tamer Tea. It has saved many tummies at our house that would otherwise have been very upset over the past two weeks.

Me:  Do you have anything new in the works for Twysted Thystle over the holidays or in the coming new year?

Deb:  We do!! We have a lot of new products coming out over the next year. On December 21 our Winter Solstice line called Winter Woods will be coming out. It will feature our Winter Woods Chai Tea, Winter Woods Body Oil, Body Butter, Air Purifier, and Lip Balm. The body-care products are an awesome woodsy blend of pure rosemary, fir needle, spruce, spearmint organic essential oils. We are also working on a line of all-natural deodorants which should be ready early next year, a clear skin facial care line which is in the works, and a men’s line of products featuring pure essential oils of sandalwood, vetiver and vanilla absolute. We are looking forward to a very exciting 2013!!
