First, a big thank you for all the warm baby wishes that have been floating through my email and other-wheres. I quickly gave up trying to respond to them all--because, you know, sleep--but I'm definitely feeling the love!
Little Miss is settling in well--enjoying the twinkle lights and snuggles. Big brother has been a bit emotional--and, frankly, is trying to figure out just how many special privileges this "new sister" thing is good for--but overall he's pretty sweet on the new addition.
As for the mama, well, I was doing fabulously until this past weekend, when I came down with a little infection that has me in rough shape. We ended up in the ER for a few hours Saturday morning. Our calm, composed midwife thought that appendicitis was a possibility, and I didn't want to mess around with that.
While being poked and prodded and scanned was not on my list of fun things to do on a Saturday, I think the worst part was leaving the baby in the middle of the night. She was in the most competent hands possible (our longtime, awesome, favorite babysitter) but still. I won't put a brave front on it, there were definitely some tears.
At any rate, thanks to modern antibiotics, I'm hopefully on the mend and ready to settle back into the hardcore nesting and Christmas movies that Little Miss and I were enjoying previously--hot tea, soft sleepers, and lots of naps.
Hope you're all enjoying some warmth this season, too!
