His 2013 Sweater

After the flurry of sweaters when he was born, I've gotten into a one-sweater-a-year grove for the Kid.  The Sweater 2013 is an Odette hoodie in Malabrigo Rios (colorway Azul Profundo--one of my favorites!).

I pulled it off the needles in the wee-smalls of Friday night, completely happy except that the top buttonhole looked a little high.  To remedy the problem, I decided to sew on two buttons to match the bottom two holes, and just pretend the top hole wasn't there.

The next morning--still in his jammies--the Kid promptly appropriated the extra button as cargo for one of his trucks and spirited it off to goodness knows where.  Then, when it came time to get dressed in his new sweater, I realized that the sweater actually did need that top button.

The jury's still out on whether I'll find the button the Kid stole first, or just give up and go buy another.  I'm guessing that just as soon as I go buy another, I'll come home to find the lost one as I walk in the door.  That's how it goes, right?

But, oh well--two buttons or three, I love how the sweater turned out.  I took the time to watch a tutorial on how to properly pick up stitches (for the button band) and I think that made all the difference.

And now--something fun--it's time to plot some knits for all the spring babies on the way!  Anyone have any amazing patterns for wee ones?
