A Cupcake Kit

IMG_5256One of our small friends had a very pretty birthday party this weekend.  Like the Kid, she's three--a fact she very proudly announced to every guest ever-so-charmingly.

Because she loves to make things in her play kitchen, I thought it would be fun to give her a kit for making real cupcakes.  The beautiful thing?  Pre-mixing the dry ingredients makes it easier for her mama, too!

I started with a big mason jar, which I dried in a warm oven for five minutes just to get it truly bone dry.  Then, the Kid helped me measure in flour, salt, sugar, and baking soda.  (We used this recipe, minus the M&M's.)  I included a list for the wet ingredients (eggs, milk, butter, vanilla) that will need to be added, as well as the baking directions.

Then, we went and had fun at our local baking store and grocery store.  I added a few packages of pretty cupcake papers, sprinkles, a tub of frosting, and some fancier decorating icing, too.  A small wooden spoon finished out the basket.

I already have a request from another of the Kid's friends to make her one for her birthday in a few weeks, so I'd say it was a hit!
