No doubt gearing up for the insanity to come this summer, my local bookstore has set up several dedicated "Harry Potter" displays. As I was meandering through them, I noticed a Hogwarts-inspired candy I hadn't seen before--Blood Pops.
A quick visit to the HP Lexicon revealed that they are mentioned in chapter 10 of Prisoner of Azkaban, when Harry is (illegally) in Hogsmede following Ron and Hermione around in his invisibility cloak:
"[Ron and Hermione were] examining a tray of blood-flavoured lollipops. Harry sneaked up behind them.
'Ugh, no, Harry won't want one of those, they're for vampires, I expect,' Hermione was saying."
I don't typically open or eat my Harry Potter candy; it gets stashed into the chest with much of the rest of my collection, to be saved for goodness-knows-what. However, according to this review on a site called "Candy Addict" the lollipops are not actually blood flavored, but rather taste like strawberry. However, they do turn your mouth "blood red".
