The River Will Always Have Its Own Way*

While--thank goodness--we haven't had as severe of weather as other parts of the state, it definitely has been wet.  We're--again, thankfully--on the high, South side of the Kansas River (or "The Kaw" as it's known locally), but people on the North side have had to be rescued and several people I know--high side or low--have had seriously flooded basements.

Curious, I went out to the levee after work today to see what the river looked like.  To give a comparison, this picture shows what Bowersock Dam usually looks like.  And here's what it looked like today:
