It started with these boots. An old pair of the Kid's with a hole in one heel. "Ohhhh," I thought, "I've seen so many of these on Pinterest where someone planted them up with cute flowers."
And then, the Kid wanted a strawberry pot, so we did that, too. (Thus far, it's humans 1, squirrels 10.)
And then, I was driving by a dumpster downtown and I saw these baskets. Again, inner voice exclaimed, "I've seen those on Pinterest! I can make them pretty!" (And I got to explain "dumpster diving" and "why it is not stealing" to the Kid, so that was a life lesson, too.)
And, of course, I had to get this doo-hickey at Art in the Park last weekend.
And...well, basically, I've now thrifted myself a new front porch garden.
I have to water it by hand--which I'm afraid I might suck at remembering by July--but it's so cheerful that I don't mind much. In fact, I'm keeping my eyes peeled for more containers.
What cast-off bit of trash will Meryl stick flowers into next? Stay tuned!
