'Tis time for the latest installment of the Food In Jars Mastery Challenge. This month's project? Quick pickles!
It's not uncommon for us to open a jar of pickles for one of our traditional Friday night "nibbles" dinners and finish it in one sitting. We are a pickle-loving family, and during the summer there is almost always a vat of quick pickled something-or-other ruminating in our fridge.
The being said--while I love it when we're eating out--I hadn't ever pickled cauliflower at home, so I decided it would be worthwhile for this month's challenge. After consulting with the Facebook group associated with the challenge, I decided to go to my bookshelf for recipes.
One would think that, having had the opportunity to compare them side by side, I would now be able to report which one is my favorite. One would be wrong.
The curried cauliflower has a more mellow, and, perhaps, more interesting flavor. But the lemony cauliflower is bright and zesty and also quite satisfying.
I've been throwing them in salads and out as a side dish, and thoroughly enjoying both much too much to worry anything so theoretical as trying to choose a favorite.
