We are having a surprise "ice day" today. One of those where I thought we were just in for a few flurries, and, so, was caught completely off-guard last night when I got the text alert that school had been cancelled. With all previous plans for the day likewise called-off, my new goal is to spend most of the day puttering around in my pajamas. And write a little about some winter knitting.
Up top, a tiny hat of my own invention for a co-worker's baby who was just born a few days ago.
(And now we have an ice storm for him to wear it in. I don't want to say I made the ice storm happen with my knitting, but...well, I knitted and then the ice came, so you be the judge!)
And then a new hat for Miss Lucy.
Lucy was delivered by Santa for Little Miss, along with a small collection of matching outfits. While I *thought* Little Miss would be tickled by the idea of matching clothes, her actual enthusiasm for the idea has exceeded my wildest dreams.
I had the forethought to get Lucy a winter coat and boots similar to Little Miss's, but--as was quickly pointed out to me--her ears would obviously be much too cold without a matching hat.
Handwarmers galore! Aside from a few cowls for the Kid's teachers, I hadn't planned much Christmas knitting. But then it hit mid-December and got a little cold and my fingers started twitching to knit. I'm not even sure how many of these I eventually made--they were slipping off the needles and out the door pretty easy-come, easy-go there in the middle of it all, and actually there was puppy sweater that got mixed in there, too, I think--but this is a pretty sample.
And last, but not least, another little Taiga Hilliard dress. I've made several of her dresses now, and I think this pattern is my favorite. While her more complicated lace dresses are so lovely, the level of concentration they require is just not for me at this stage of my life. This one is still pretty, but simple enough to make--particularly in tiny newborn size--without a hundred lifelines and/or curse words.
(Although, I think one of my next one or two projects is going to be this Taiga Hilliard dress for Little Miss. I've never made a knitted dress that big before. Wish me luck!)
