You wouldn't know it by the pictures, but this was the Thanksgiving of the big, rolling, shared family cold. The Kid started it the Wednesday before the holiday, and Sweet Husband and I are finally (maybe?) starting to get over it.
Nonetheless, between coughs and medicine doses, some fun was had.
Sweet Husband was the only person healthy enough to take Little Miss to her school feast on Wednesday, so off they went. "Feast" is one of my favorite things that they do at her school all year. The kids help prepare all of the food and decorations, and they're always so proud--it's adorable!
By Thursday morning, Sweet Husband and I were both up for the local Turkey 5K. This is the first time we've run the 5K in Lawrence, as we usually go home for Thanksgiving. I missed the trail run that they hold in our hometown, but the company was great, so it was all good.
We didn't go home this year because Sweet Husband's family decided to come to us. We all went out for a fancy lunch (see that first picture up top) and also had some good playtime at the park and over the chess board. And, oh yes, there was also some pretty epic Thanksgiving napping!
Friday was my birthday, but everyone was still a little yucky. Sweet Husband's parents stayed over, though, so his mom hung out with the childrens while we stopped by our friend's "Santa Rescue" party and had a nice birthday dinner out. It ended up being an early night (we might have ended up killing half an hour at Target so that we didn't show up at home before the kids were asleep...maybe!), but it's always nice to have a few hours of uninterrupted grown-up conversation, regardless.
Then, my mom and sister kidnapped me for the rest of the weekend for some Christmas shopping and dinner out in Kansas City. We rode the pony carriages. It was awesome!
And now, I simply must get some rest to kick this awful cold. We have both our annual parade party and a certain little lady's birthday coming next weekend, so I need to get back in fighting shape quickly!
