You know how sometimes you get something in your head and you just must make it happen? A few weeks ago, I decided I was going to make this scarf for a friend's birthday. We don't even normally do presents, but I just decided and then it was a mission.
The scarf is kind of a clever little thing, because you sew a little bit of the cast-on and bind-off together to make a loop, so it doesn't fall off your neck. It's also knitted with sock yarn combined with a single strand of Habu stainless steel silk, which should theoretically give it a cool bendy-drapey quality.
I'm not sure that the Habu made that much difference in the way the scarf draped, but it did take long enough to get here that I was frantically casting-off and weaving ends in the car on the way to my friend's birthday party.
It's a good thing they live in the country. And also that they know that when I'm making Sweet Husband take a random picture of me before coming inside their house that it's probably for a reason and not craziness.
Or, better stated, they know that it's for a reason and it's a little craziness.
