Before the start of swim lessons this summer, Sweet Husband and the Kid struck a bargain. He would go to lessons without giving me any grief. He would work hard to learn to swim better. And, if he did all that for eight weeks of lessons, the two of them could go to the water park at the end of the summer.
The bargain was kept, and today was the appointed day for the Kid's prize to be claimed.
But I had some errands to run in the city, so rather than stay home, Little Miss and I dropped the boys off at the water park and had a day out ourselves.
While they splashed and rode slides, we made an IKEA run, had dim sum for lunch, hit up the international market, and had a late afternoon "tea" at Starbucks.
When we picked the boys up at the end of the day, everyone had had a fabulous time.
On the ride home, Sweet Husband and I agreed--it was so nice to get to just focus on one of them all day. While, of course, we'll have to swap children for the next one, I could see this simultaneous-but-separate adventures thing becoming a family ritual.
