The babies are here! And with them spring begins for-reals.
And also the watching and guessing and identifying fun.
With permission of the Kid, we're going with a Star Wars naming theme this year.
As such, I'm about 100% sure these three are our Red Rangers, a.k.a. meat birds, a.k.a. the Stormtroopers.
And I'm equally sure these two are a Buff Orpington and a Golden Polish, respectively. They're in heavy competition for the coveted status of flock mascot. The Polish will be "Padme" and I'm thinking maybe "Rey" for the Buff?
And then we get into dicer territory, with this little guy who was a bonus add-on chick. (Which probably means he is actually a guy. Because "bonus" is a good word for, "We don't know what to do with roosters either.")
And these four, which are some combo of a Golden Campine, a Speckled Sussex, a Silver Laced Wyandotte, and a Dark Cornish. We'll wait to really name them (maybe, unless the Kid just does it without me) until we've had a few days to watch their wee personalities and nail down who is what breed.
The chicken TV is up and running again--all evening, every evening, straight from our backyard!
