A year ago last Sunday--on our wedding anniversary, in fact--I started collecting these "One Second Everyday" videos, with an app on my phone. While I will admit that I cheated (and backdated a video by a day) three or four times, for the most part I remembered to take a video everyday. It's as much a habit now as brushing my teeth.
And it's more than that, too. There are a few days where the moment I captured was of me at my wits end, but for the most part, it's become my moving gratitude journal. It's a place to remember the Kid dancing in his fireman boots in the late afternoon sunlight, or how her voice sounded the first time Little Miss said, "Mama". In my head, I committed to doing it for a year, but I think I'm going to keep going indefinitely, just 'cause it's something that makes me happy.
At the suggestion of a friend early-on, I also committed myself to not watching the whole video until the year was done. I've watched individual months, but never more than that. As you can imagine, I was counting down the days this month until I could watch the whole thing finally strung together, which you now see above. It's a little long (about 10 minutes), but I had to post it here just to mark the milestone.
