My college roommate and her longtime love made it official last month.
You know me--I dig weddings--but this one had a flavor of beautiful I've not seen yet.
The bride and groom have two children under the age of five and a teenager.
As the little ones pulled on their mama's skirt and generally hammed it up during the ceremony, the mister kept talking about the peace of married life.
At one point the bride--who, I must add, has a wicked dry sense of humor--just looked out at the audience and raised one eyebrow. The whole room chuckled.
But, on a more serious note, while my eyes get misty when I see a pair of naive young things promise to love each other forever, there's also something so, so romantic about watching a pair who've been through it pledge those same vows.
While it's always brave to swear "for better or worse", it's a step up when you've been together for a little of the hard stuff--kids puking at four in the morning, newborn sleep deprivation--before you make that promise. Marriage is awesome, but it's also hard work. And really knowing that in your bones, but jumping in and making those vows anyway....it's huge.
Congratulations you two crazy kids!
Good luck and thanks for letting me be part of your day!
