"They" say you're not supposed to tackle any big projects while you're on maternity leave. While I agree that rule is sound for the first 4-6 weeks, after that, if you can sit at home and stare at the walls all day without diving into a few little to-dos, then you're a better woman than I.
Project 1: our bookshelf. I saw Lisa's bookshelf on the Instagrams a few weeks ago, and it struck me right away that her books had such nice room to breathe.
Our books did not have room to breathe, but rather were crammed and shoved and packed in like sardines. After pruning out the books we no longer read, however--and even adding a couple of houseplants, egads!--we now have a much cleaner space.
Project 2: our dining room gallery wall. Longtime readers will remember that we had pictures in open frames here. Unfortunately, they were starting to look bedraggled, so some protective glass was necessary. Again, I took the opportunity to get rid of a few prints that were no longer speaking to me.
And now I can recline back, cuddle my babe, and stare at my walls more peacefully.
