If you have wee ones of a certain age, you know that eventually you start having holidays where they "get it". This Halloween was just such a crucial year for us.
Last year, the Kid sort of understood trick-or-treating; this year it was "the best night of ever"!
It didn't hurt that I made them take me to the pumpkin patch to begin the day. Through a series of unfortunate events, I hadn't been able to go for two years. It was not to be borne!
And Little Miss couldn't not get a hay rack ride on her very first Halloween, of course.
After a power nap, we costumed-up to meet their dada for our downtown trick-or-treat.
The Kid vowed that he would get his bag filled all the way to the top with candy. But, thankfully, after about one lap he decided he was enriched enough.
So it was home for pizza delivery and a special Halloween showing of Star Wars. By the end of the night, the Kid *may* have been running through the house screaming like a TIE fighter pilot--sugar does some crazy things to the four-year-old brain--but Halloween is but once a year, so we let him slide some.
