Making Coleslaw From My First Born Cabbage

Img_8384I picked this guy out of the garden last Thursday.  I was so pleased with his size and lack of bugs (this despite the fact that his big outer leaves looked pretty chewed on)!  If you will recall, he's a Savoy King.

Since he is my very fist cabbage ever, I wanted to do something special with him.  So, I found a recipe for some basic, but awesome looking coleslaw, and then added my own spins to make it a little Asian-y.

I chopped up this head of cabbage, along with the last of the carrots from the garden (call it two big carrots).  Then I mixed in 1/2 cup Salata (seasoned vinegar), 2 tablespoons sesame seed oil, the juice of one lime, a small handful of chopped cilantro, and salt and pepper.  It ended up quite tasty!
