We were in the middle of organizing the basement. I had baby clothes in piles, and jars of jam waiting impatiently for me to find them a place in "cool, dark storage". The kitchen was still a mess from breakfast, and the Kid was recreating the transcontinental railroad in the living room.
But I also needed to do some hands-on "research" on the conditions of a few local trails. And it was a breezy 80 degrees outside. And we needed to take a load to goodwill anyway.....
Betcha can't guess what won?
While the other stuff did eventually get sorted out, it was not before we took an hour to discover a new hiking spot. I stabbed my heel nastily on a hawthorn branch, but we found a tree house and a suspension bridge and some climb-y things that had to be a half-buried dinosaur--what are a few drops of blood when there are discoveries like that to be made, yes?
