I originally bought three skeins of this yarn (Southwest Trading Company Bamboo) with the intent of making myself a Clapotis. After about sixteen false starts, I was forced to concede--at least in my hands, this yarn was too slippery for French scarfery.
For plan B, I decided that--made into a Simple Yet Effective Shawl--it would make a lovely Christmas present for Sweet Husband's grandmother (who does not read here, so I'm not giving it away!). Despite my initial troubles with the bamboo, once I got into the pattern it was very meditative. Just enough thinking to be interesting, without being so much that I had to concentrate. As the name says, simple, yet effective!
