Serendipitous Ruffle Pants

I bought this pattern about a million years ago, thinking I'd make a pair of ruffle pants for Cutie Niece for Christmas.  (She's almost a teenager now, so ruffle pants have not been something she'd be excited to receive for quite some time.)

The fabric was to be a dress for me.  Again, purchased ages ago.

As I was groping in my fabric cabinet earlier this month, they both happened to fall out into my hands at the same time.

I think that is the very definition of serendipity, is it not?

I made the 6-12 month size, so hopefully they'll fit next summer or fall.  The ruffles were about 15 minutes more work than plain pants would have been, but they're so worth it!
