FOOD :: I'm excited to try this recipe this week. I could eat a poached egg with some broth, spinach, and grains every single day, but thus far my experiments poaching an egg at work (we only have a microwave) have been pretty gross. If this works it could be revolutionary!
LISTENING :: The other day one of my friends posted that she was looking for pals to go see the band Lord Huron. I had never heard of them (shocker!) so she sent me a few songs and I'm kinda getting into them. Mellow, but not sleepy. Pretty, but not sweet. It's like, what you want to listen to as the night winds down after a really great party. (I also have this song on repeat right now. I'm on the hunt to find the album on vinyl!)
LOOKING AHEAD :: To Valentine's Day and the Kid's birthday, which are all right on top of each other in February, hence, the planning ahead.
The Kid is in the midst of a minor shark phase (as opposed to his current MAJOR dinosaur phase), so he picked out these valentines this year. Little Miss decided she wanted to go with the valentine set she saw me photographing for Sparkle Stories last week, so I happily just printed a few extras. (They'll be available as a free download on the Sparkle blog on Thursday, I believe, so I'll post more about them later. But they're adorable and they come with a free hour of stories, so you don't even need to attach a treat--win!)
I think I'm down to just remembering when I'm supposed to pick up several orders of various baked goods (birthday school party cupcakes and Valentine's Day class party cookies and birthday arcade party cupcakes--can you keep that straight?)...oh, and Amazon'ing up some shark toppers for half of the aforementioned cupcakes. The school party ones are getting already-purchased dinosaurs, but I must find some sharks for the arcade party. Goodness, the things that end up on my to-do list these days!
Farewell, January! I can't say I'm sorry to see the end of your dark, cold days. I'm heart-ready for some February frivolity.
