I loved this post on Cup of Jo this week about thinking about words to describe your family's core values. If I had to choose, I think ours would be curiosity/love of learning and optimism. With maybe a "brave" or "polite" or "have a purpose" tacked on, if you really made me pick three.
I really want to make this tagine recipe while the weather is still spring-cool. (As opposed to spring-hot.)
In preparation for when the weather does turn spring-hot, though, I also really want to go try on dresses and jumpsuits at Target. (I normally stick to staples like cardigans and camisoles there, but they're kinda bringing it this year for spring and summer.)
Ohh, and this swimsuit for Little Miss's Easter basket.
Once in a blue moon, I get a Birchbox, and this charcoal sheet mask came in the last one. It was amazing, kids. It felt and smelled good. It actually made my nose pores look cleaner and smaller. Truly, it was a thing of beauty. However, it's a little expensive. Anyone have a cheaper charcoal mask that they adore?
For this month's book, I'm reading this biography of Alexander Hamilton. (Yes, it's the one that inspired the musical.) Despite the fact that it's the thickness of a brick, it's entertaining enough that I'm making good progress. If you're a fan of the musical, you'll love it because Lin Manuel-Miranda basically pulled the song titles straight out of the text. (Some of which, to be fair, came straight from actual events. But it's still hard to read about an elderly Eliza Hamilton looking at Alexander's bust like she could "never be satisfied" and not hear Renee Elise Goldsberry singing the words.)
If your kiddos are also into Hamilton, may I recommend this biography? It's pretty vanilla, but it does the job. (And omits a few of the more sordid parts of the story.)
Speaking of good stories, though, the new "How to Be Super" is launching today!!!
And speaking of things the Kid is way-into, have you seen this Rube Goldberg Machine gender reveal? I made the mistake(?) of showing it to the Kid the other day, and now he's obsessed with making one ourselves. I'm putting it on the list of contenders for this year's summer bucket list.
Happy weekend, my friends!
